Preference Points

May 31, 2017

Delaware County Housing Authority uses a HUD approved preference point system to house our applicants. This, plus the date of your application determines your placement on the waiting list. This number can change in either direction, multiple times a day.  Applicants will need to accumulate all 12 points (listed below) in order to reach the top of the waiting list and will then be sorted by application date.

Preference Points

1.  Nine (9) = Jurisdiction points are given to those applicants living or working in Delaware County excluding the City of Chester.

2. Three (3) = Working-Elderly-Disabled  points are awarded to those applicants working at least 20 hours a week for 90 consecutive days. The  working preference shall also be available to a family if the head, spouse or sole member is 62 years old or disabled.
