Clean-up Day!

On August 13, 2005, the real meaning of Community Service was in full effect.  The County’s Community Service workers, as well as DCHA’s Community Service residents, came together to clean up our development and to start the painting project of the Community Center.  It was a successful day of positive energy flowing and everyone felt a sense of accomplishment.  Because of the efforts of Community Service, the Fairground Community Center has a new look.

I would  like to thank Sam Stafford, from our Maintenance Department, for requesting a County Community Service Crew to assist us with our project.  They were a skilled and dedicated crew that took pride in their work.  Also BIG thanks goes out to Fairground Community Service workers Robert Goldsborough, Lamont Grant and Cathy Smith for their help. And to the pros, Daniel Jones and Tanya Willis, thanks for the excellent work.  To Aleasha Bullock, thank you for being  there with me from the beginning of the project to end—you were my rock.  Also, a very special thanks goes out to Antoinette Holmes, Mary Holmes, and Dorita Hill, and to our teen volunteers, Ivan Thomas and Danny Oakley, you were the icing on the cake.  Without all of your help, the project would not have been a success.   As you can see……….
