Progs Older Adult

The Department of Programs for the Older Adult and the Disabled is strongly committed to working with these two populations and strives to work with other departments throughout Delaware County Housing Authority to provide well maintained, safe housing while creating programs to enhance the quality of life within our communities and for our clients. The values are incorporated into the development of programs.

Delaware County Housing Authority will continue to promote independent living for the target populations in all Delaware County Housing Authority Developments including: the Kinder Park Homes, the Kinder Park Mid-Rise, the Upland Senior Building, the Upland Homes, the Fairground Homes, the Sharon Hill Area and the Highland Homes.

The following services are provided out of the Community Room in the Kinder Park Mid-Rise Apartment Complex, located at 1847 Constitution Avenue, Woodlyn, PA: Information and Referral Services for all kinds of needs; a Congregate Lunch Program three times a week; Transportation Services for outings such as discount clothing stores, outlets, and malls, plus other fun excursions, which promote mental and physical health; Congregate Wellness Programs which include programs as health education presentations, The Healthy Living Program (diet and exercise program), vegetable gardening, Arts and Crafts, healthy cooking instruction, mental health programs, intergenerational programs, Talent Shows, recognition programs, free screening for osteoporosis, blood pressure, and glucose; Bingo, Computer Classes, Covered Dish Lunches, and any other congregate educational activities which promote healthy aging in place.
